CCD Professor and Department Chair Karey James was just appointed by the Colorado Supreme Court to be a hearing board member for the Office of the Presiding Disciplinary Judge. In this position she will be serving on a 3-member board, presided over by the Presiding Discipline Judge.
The board will be hearing formal issues on disciplinary and bar admissions matters. The Office of the Presiding Disciplinary Judge functions as an independent and impartial tribunal for lawyer regulation proceedings, with the twin goals of protecting the public and affording due process of law to respondents.
When asked about her newest job title, James responded with, “I am thrilled to embrace this appointment by the Supreme Court as Hearing Board Member for the Office of the Presiding Disciplinary Judge. Participating in the adjudication of cases involving lawyers, and non-lawyers in matters concerning attorney regulations and ethical matter in the state of Colorado is a vital contribution to ensuring that the future paralegals graduating from CCD thrive in the most conducive environments.”
Congratulations, Professor James!
